The African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) has called on the ANC to root out corrupt individuals who are tainting the ANC and its integrity.
ANCYL Secretary General Njabulo Nzuza said now is the best time for the ANC to deal with the people who taint the image of the organisation; he added the individuals must be expelled from the organisation.
“There are people who taint the name of the organization busy drinking champagne and expensive whisky whilst they taint the name of our glorious movement. The ANC must now, more than ever, deal with the people,” said Nzuza.
“It is time that those who are corrupt must suffer the consequences. The ANC cannot be defined as corrupt because of people who are self serving and end up tainting the ANC and its integrity… those found guilty of corruption must be expelled from the organization,” He added.
Expressing the Youth League’s disappointment on the poor election results, Nzuza said the results are a sign of discontent the people feel for the ANC.
The ANC failed to gain majority in municipalities including Nelson Mandela Bay, Tshwane, Johannesburg and Ekurhuleni and lost to the opposition the Democratic Alliance (DA).
“The ANC should take these results as a lesson that if we do not deliver or delay deliver this country will be led by counter revolutionary forces,”
“The results are also as a result of incapacity of the ANC to adapt and change our organisational design to respond to the needs of society in a speedily manner.” said Nzuza.
Nzuza then called on the ANC to re-engineer itself and change the manner in which the organisation handles situations
“This situation could have been avoided through the ANC delivering on its promised and resolved policy positions to make the lives of our people better like the issue of Economic Transformation that will foster Job Creation, Free Quality Higher Education for the poor, Scraping of E-Tolls and to invest in the future of young people,”
He then said the ANC should take these results as a lesson that if they do not deliver or delay deliver this country will be led by counter revolutionary forces. He then added they will overcome this and solder on to provide services for the poor South Africans.
